I don’t want to give screen time before school but I’d like to entertain him quietly so that he doesn’t wake up the rest of the house (and hopefully I can get back to bed too.)

He can’t yet read. Any ideas?

Books even if he can't read.
Crayon and coloring book but the walls may get colored.

Get a clock "okay to wake" on Amazon.

I have the clock. But once he’s up, he can’t fall back asleep. He knows he can’t make noise until it turns green, but I have to give him things to entertain him until the green light goes off; otherwise he’ll just wake up his siblings so he has someone to talk to /play with.

There a few accounts on instagram with invitations to play, activities the mom can set up for the kids to do basically alone
How old is the child?

You must have very different children than me because I can’t imagine any of these working for my child

He’s 5. The problem is he’s not great at just playing himself for long and he wakes up wayyyy earlier than everyone else.

This works sometimes; but maybe I should make a designated morning bucket so it stays special.
