Anyone else having their non-hugworthy posts being hugged tonight?
I'm seeing the passive aggression all over the place. More than usual, which is already a lot.

I don’t get why a hug is passive aggressive.

Why are you hugging a post? If it's to show how much you disagree then thats passive aggressive. Be man enough to disagree vocaly.
If you're hugging cuz you genuinely feel bad then it's ok
If you're hugging cuz why not, come wash my dishes instead.

I’m here for a year maybe so I don’t get the nuance. Why are hugs condescending?
How do you know it’s not meant to be supportive?
Maybe a hug is just… a hug?
❤️❤️❤️

OP said she didn't post anything hug worthy, I.e. that needed major support.
Hugs on this site have become another way to express disagreement.

Yes, it's like saying "I like to buy coffee once a week for self-care" and then having someone hug your post. Sometimes it's even worse like "I like eating pizza" and then
Say you disagree or move on!

And here I was wondering what calamity occurred today that would so scare children that they would need more than their usual complement of hugs to feel secure.

It may or may not have started out that way, but somewhere along the line on this site, some posters started using a hug as shorthand for "You pooah deah, a mahnd is a turrible thing to wayaste."
