DC had strep 2 weeks ago. Was on medication. Aprox 4 days in DC started complaining on leg pain mostly at night. The past week was 5 times. Each time different leg. Never both together. Once it was during the day and not in the leg but the knee. I took dc back to the dr last week Monday. Dr took a finger prick cbc and it looked normal. What can possibly be? My mind is racing to the worst.

He just had strep. Just finished with medication. It started a few days in. Cbc was supposedly perfect. Please read my entire post.
Dr also said he throat looks fine compared when I took dc originally it was awful.

It's strep again. Could be backside. Culture don't pick everything up. You can do bloodwork. Ask for cefdinir not amoxicillin

My kids first symptom of strep is exactly this kind of pain. Usually no other symptoms. But could it be strep again or strep that never really went away if the finger cbc was perfect?

Never want away. The medicine masked it but didn’t cure it.

OK. You're writing of course so I guess you know. But I'm thinking, just trying to understand, if the cbc shows perfect numbers, where's the number for strep? Do you understand my question? Like where is the strep? Of course in the throat. But why wouldn’t the cbc show it?

I’ve had this before. The cbc doesn’t always pick up strep. As per my doc cbc is overused and doesn’t tell us much

You think so? My dr picked up on infections numerous times with the cbc.

I think growing pains. Can be a few nights in a row. My pediatrician believes leg pains at night are real growing pains, even though many sites might say it's nonsense.

Has your child ever complained about this before? One of my dc’s would randomly have pain in their legs, I was told it’s growing pains. I also had it as a kid.

CBC only shows the blood count. Ie how many red blood cells, white blood cells, infection fighting cells.
There can be an abnormal cbc with a strep since the white blood cells are fighting the infection, but it is not always the case.
There are different tests that show if there is strep in the blood

I have an appointment tomorrow. I guess time will tell. I'm pretty sure dr will order a regular blood test to check for a variety of things. The waiting game is the worst.
