I hope everyone who is doing laundry has asked a shailah. It’s not about simchas Yom Tov or how anyone feels. This is a halacha (same as any other halacha).
I'm not judging anyone but I never heard of being allowed to wash anything except for little children/baby clothes.
You can also pretreat something that will be ruined if you just let it be until after the chag is over but that is not the same as washing it.
