I know many popular frum performers and singers
Have met some at concerts and extravagant simchas

I guess I just have a different definition of celebrity

Seeing a real celebrity close up would excite me. A popular singer, not so much

People adore them because they identify with them. IOW they see the celeb's achievements as their own. Ever hear sports fans exult "We did it!!"? The fans didn't do it; the team did it. But the fans accept the team's win as their own. They may deserve some credit, since enthusiastic fans inspire the players or performers, but they don't deserve anywhere near the sort of bragging rights they claim.

I could not care less about frum celebrities. I see the appeal of secular celebrities but less and less...

That's the point I was trying to make, but as another Brickred made me aware, for those who are sheltered and are not familiar with any non Jewish celebrities, popular frum people are celebrities for them. I respect and even admire that .
