all the recipes I see for mushroom sauce seem to require an ingredient (such as onion soup mix) that has msg in it. anyone know how I can make mushroom sauce without it?

saute onions and mushrooms in margarine or oil. Add some chicken soup or meat gravy. combine some corn starch with cold water and add that to the mixture (add a little at a time, so you get the right thickness). sorry I can't give you amounts on this, I don't know them.

If you don't want to add the chicken soup, just do water and add spices: garlic powder, salt, pepper. You can use flour instead of cornstarch too.

yes, I've often done it stem's way when I was lacking ingredients, and it tatses good, but I think it does have a better flavor with the soup (I'm talking about real soup, not bouillon cubes or mix).
