Ok help. I live in the same city as my mother in law & though I didn't want to go to her for RH, my husband did so I got used to the idea of not making YT (BTW, I'm married under a year so I haven't really made YT yet). Well my mother in law told my husband today that we're not invited because she doesn't want to be overwhelmed with guests.
So my question is: what do I have to know about making YT, especially R"H (things like no vinagar as I read in another post which I never heard of)?!? Any good, helpful books you can recommend that will make it easier to make R"H for the first time-- and do it right??

their are a few things dont use on rosh hashana, everyone has their own customs so speak it over with your husband but in our family we don't use pickeles, nuts, vinagar, spicy, chrain, basically anything bitter so as not to have a bitter yr. their are those that don't use onions and garlic.

once you have straight which items your family does NOT use, make up a menu for the four meals, and begin cooking.
(use your freezer)
oh no, here I go again, promoting that freezer!
