my 3 yr old has been dry at night as long as he does not drink before bed. but now he plays outside and get very thirsty right before bed. if he drinks, he wets the bed. if he doesn't well its the summer and its hot- he needs to drink.
should I put him in pullups for the summer? or deal with a wet bed every night?

Thats what I would do. And quite impressive a boy being trained at night, quite early, well for my boys it is. Usually night time accidents didn't stop till a yr or so later !

I would first try taking him to the bathroom in his sleep instead of pullups.
It usually works for kids without waking them up.
It can cause problems later if you put him back into pullups (regression)

Maybe if he drinks more throughout the day he won't be so thirsty right before bed. I also make my three year old sit on the toilet for a while to make sure it all comes out, right before bed.
