How about a version of tiramisu (non-alcoholic, so it would be okay for the kids) or a trifle?

French toast! You could make it like regular French toast, but in smaller slices, then drizzle some chocolate sauce over a couple.
Or you could make mock beignets, with chocolate slices sandwiched between two thin pieces of panetonne - then you could either bake them, pan-fry them (to melt the chocolate a little, and seal the edges), or deep-fry them (my favorite!). After they're warmed and the edges sealed, you can dust them with powdered sugar.
Or you could toast pieces, cut them into "fingers", and serve them with a chocolate fondue.
Now I'm hungry!
