anybody here from Toronto?

I heard quite a wild story about a woman who was possessed and how Rabbi Immanuel Shochet helped get rid of the demon, a story that supposedly just happened! Can anybody verify this story?

I heard the story but don't want to repeat it until I know that it really happened. I heard it from someone who heard it from someone who heard it ...

These stories all sound strange. Do you really believe in them? I thought there are no more shin daleds and stuff like that anymore. How can something like this happen it makes no sense and scares a lot of ppl. I had nightmares from the other story in E"Y.

what does a dybbuk have to do with a shin-daled?
the outcome of the story in israel a few years ago was that it was made up by some frum people who wanted to scare not-frum people into keeping shabbos.
I wouldnt be so quick to dismiss a story of a dybbuk.

do you see how you're self-contradicting?

to clarify: I believed that story like many did until we found out the truth about it. but there are many many other dybbuk stories I heard and they are TRUE.

says who? not challenging, just want to know the source for that

and whether or not we find dybbuks scary will not make them more or less real!

there is a documented story about the Chofetz Chaim exorcising a dybbuk - I think it's even in the Artscroll bio

and yes RG! I'd be thrilled to have you report to us directly from I.S. himself!

Aren't they like from the same category of spirits making trouble. What is the source of dybokk? Shin Daled it mentions were in the days of the Bal Shem Tov and are not arround anymore.

I checked.

nothing changed since the Chofetz Chaim in this regard, and it is not at all similar to the taiva for avoda zara that was taken away.

dybuks are not shin daleds, they are souls of people who have died and were so bad they couldn't go anywhere, so they are left in limbo and constantly trying to get out of it by looking for "weak" prey. This means if someone is weak in their spiritual side. When a Dybuk possesses it is also a parasite to the person being possessed.
Yes it can happen now-days, but like that story in Israel, I wouldn';t be quick to believe them because they are quite rare. But let us know if it is true or not.
