Lately all my cakes have been coming out very dense. I tried using a different container of baking powder but it didnt help. I also have to leave the cakes in the oven much longer than the recipe recommends before a knife comes out clean. Any advice?

Get an oven thermometer - maybe the temperature isn't accurate anymore.
