While I love a good joke as much as anyone, OP isn't crazy for wanting to simplify her life. Sometimes the most obvious solution doesn't occur to us right away - like MBV's answer. That makes a lot of sense.

If there's space, you can put the hook on the side of the machine or on the wall. Then, instead of a plastic grocery bag, hang a pretty gift bag.

Do you have a toilet that is close by? Maybe you can flush it.

My son threw some in with chametz-the chametz burned a lot faster. Lint is flammable. People should make sure to clean the piping and wall where the lint goes through at least once a year.

Get a magnetic hook like http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ.....AAZQR
and if you don't want a regular shopping bag, use a gift bag, or one of those tiny cloth tote bags (like Oriental Trading has)
Keep it on the side of machine and it won't be as visible, but if it is, it will still look nice. It will also be very conveniently located.

FYI: Lint should be removed after every load as it is quite flammable and can date fire. Plus it blocks air circulation so your dryer will be less efficient and take longer to dry...

I wouldnt. I suspect it would accumulate and cause problems. similar to tampons.

my kids love to empty the lint, they throw it in the garbage or composter. I have a small garbage can in my laundry room, which, yes, needs to be emptied weekly. another chore I assign to the kids

Sometimes a topic is just so absurd you can't help becoming fascinated by it.
