Am I stuck buying a regular suit and paying a chunk of money to tailor it? I've tried, Calvin Klein brand from Macys, the most gorgeous Joseph Abboud from Nordstrom (on sale right now....), and the slim fit from JCPenny. All are way too wide to get away with. He needs the 8 for length in the pants and arms so I can't size down.
Does anyone have any experience with this one from Shirtstop? The woman on the phone told me it's 25 inches at the waist which measures too big for him, too...

Anywhere else to try??

My kids have The Lord and Taylor blazer (with matching pants ) and I love it.
Not sure how it would work for skinny child but worth a try

Not sure what your price range is but check out Appaman, Zara and Euroboys. All have skinny skinny pants

I second Appaman, they are a bit pricey but a great skinny fit.

Totally racking up my credit card with buying suits (obviously only keeping one)...any thoughts on whether the Appaman is skinnier than the Zara suit?
Once you add in tailoring to a cheaper suit, it's the same price as these nicer ones. Or maybe even more, I haven't even gotten a price quoted to me.

Well he's almost ten and does like to wear a suit. The only pants separates that fit him are these skinny dressier uniform pants from the Gap. The slim fit dress pants they sell all run the same as the ones that come in a suit...too big! He's just so thin. My other kids are average sized, so much simpler.

OP, I'm the one you spoke to at ShirtStop.
I just wanted to let you know that your issue with slim suits is not a rare one. The problem is that most manufacturers stop putting elastic in the pants at size 8. However, we have requested that our manufacturer produce a line of slim suits that have an adjustable waist band for ALL sizes. As such this may work for your son, and super slim boys in general (my own son included, lol).
We are expecting these suits to arrive in about 2 weeks, so if you'd like to give us a call then, maybe we can find something for you that will fit properly and wont empty your wallet.
Hatzlacha!
