It's usually our Rebetzen who arranges meals for a new mother, but she's out of town got stuck in NY with the hurricane. So I'm stepping in her shoes to arrange meal rota for a friend who had a baby. I've contributed meals before but I've never done the organizing part.
So how do I do about it? I'd like to do a whole week's rota plus Shabbos but so far I have only 5 women. Is it chutzpadik to call around to ask? And what do I do about kashrus? Do you ask people who volunteered, or do you ask the new mother if she feels comfortable taking a meal from Mrs so and so?
TIA.

In our community, people always get asked who didn't volunteer. Find out what you can about who is in her circle. That's the best people to start with.
You do need to find out from the mother any allergies, chumras, etc.
Not sure about the kashrus issue, in our community, we just sort of know who is okay to ask and who someone might have problems eating from.

First off, takethemameal is a great site!
If you have FB, you can always post on your or her wall that you are in charge of meals and people could contact you. If you do takethemameal you can post the link too.
You can also call around. Start with her friends of course.
I don't know if you have this where you are but our shul has a list of our email addresses and when someone has a baby (or if we have any event) they mass email us.
Good luck!
