it just really depends on if you are going to make the shower a themed shower or just a little party type thing for the bride.

some ppl make it a theme party and then everyone brings certain things.

here are some example: each person brings something with their initials, or everyone brings something for the kitchen or a certain color.

then you can just have a party, with no theme and just have ppl bring gifts or you can order things from their bridal registry if they have one...

those are just a few ideas.

ah, you are correct, I did not know that a registry exists in israel either. you are talking about someone in israel? dont know....just tell ppl to bring things that make good gifts for a bride. I dont think that it makes any difference what, the kallah will like it anyway.

When I made a bridal shower for my friend, I gave the women a choice or one or two things to get the Kallah. Most of it were the kitchen/bathroom items that everyone needs and no one gets as an engagement or wedding gift.

I also asked that everyone bring in a favorite recipe for a recipe box I was putting together.

Of course, for one friend we knew couldn't boil water to save her life, we all wrote down the name, address and phone number of our favorite restaurant.... lol

We make Recipe Bridal Showers for all our friends.
Here's what you do:
Tell everyone to write down their favorite recipe on an index card.
And to buy a gift which goes with the recipe.
For example: If you're giving a recipe for pancakes, get her a frying-pan.
Or: a recipe for a cassarole, buy a nice cassarole dish.
You get the idea....
It's so much fun!!!
Every time I use one of the items I received at my shower, I think of the person who gave it to me. and many times, I've used their recipes with the items they gave me.
By the end of the evening, the Kallah has a whole Recipe-Box full of Recipes, as well as lots of useful gifts.
You can also do the recipe thing in an album with pockets. but a box is just as nice.

Nechmad does a gift registry, as does 4UGifts (in Jerusalem). We used 4U and were very pleased with their service.

Didn't do the umbrella cake since the cake came out way smaller than expected. So I took chocolate put it into molds (aleph bet, hearts, and a cake) and wrote mazal tov .... with three hearts on the bottom and a wedding cake in the middle. I made smaller hearts to go on seperate one serving cakes.
