Easy and Delicious:

Sauce
Mix in pot and bring to a boil:
2 large onions, sauted or a few shakes of onion flakes
16 oz. can of tomato sauce (here in Israel I use one 260 gram container of resek agvaniyot)
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 cup ketchup
1 cup hot water
1/2 cup brown sugar

Meatball mixture
2 lbs. ground meat
1/2 cup bread crumbs
2 eggs
pinch salt
1/8 -- 1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 cup sugar

Shape into balls and drop into boiling sauce. Boil for 1 1/2 -- 2 hours.

I use the same sauce for stuffed cabbage or stuffed pepper and it comes out great.

Jar of marinara sauce works fine. Or sometimes I saute onions, add canned tomato sauce and spice to taste.

(I leave out the Worcestershire sauce and pineapple and it comes out well anyway)

Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Sauce:
2-14 ounce bottles ketchup or chili sauce
16 ounces grape jam
8 ounce can tomato sauce
1 teaspoon lemon juice
black pepper
2 ketchup bottles of water
1 tomato sauce can of water

Combine sauce ingredients and bring to boiling.

Meatballs:
3 pounds ground beef or ground dark turkey
4 eggs
1 cup water (if using turkey, only use ½ cup water)
1 cup bread crumbs

Shape into meatballs about one inch in diameter (if using turkey, you’ll probably need to wet your hands). Drop into boiling sauce. Lower flame to simmer and cook covered for at least one hour (one hour for turkey–a little longer for beef).

What kind of flavor do you want?
Sweet? Savory?
With tomato sauce or not?

I fry up an onion.

mix meat with egg, matza meal, salt and pepper and make balls.

put with onions and fry until white (shake so they dont stick) cover with water add salt pepper paprika, squirt ketchup, some brown sugar mix and cover.

I just boil the meatballs in tomato sauce w/ spices (s&p, oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder) but I don't like sweet meatballs.

Is this liquidy? Do you serve the liquid or leave it behind in the pot?
What do you serve it over, spaghetti or rice?
Thanks.
