It has been only one month since that fateful day but it seems like ages since the Tsunami crisis exposed us to some of the most horrific sights of human devastation imaginable.

But the crisis has also provided a window into human kindness at its best. In the aftermath of this disaster, the outpouring of care and love that my colleagues and I experienced from people like you is truly humbling.

During the initial weeks following the disaster our attention was focused on crisis relief: feeding and housing the victims, helping the wounded, identifying bodies and liaising with family members of missing persons.
We are now focusing our long term efforts on delivering aid directly to the hardest-hit victims.

We’ve opened an office in Phuket to establish and monitor our system for aid distribution. To date we’ve distributed food, money, and all kinds of personal hygiene materials directly to the hands of hundreds of poor villagers.

At this location we are also holding Shabbat Services and meals for the Jewish aid workers in the region, joined by the local Jews of Phuket.

We are also coordinating an international toy drive to bring back some smiles to the faces of the children.

Thank you immensely for entrusting us with this sacred mission of representing you in this relief work. As true partners in our work your help is crucial. We hope that we continue to make you proud. Please be sure to follow our progress on our website: www.jewishthailand.com. (And please let your friends and acquaintances know so that they can be part of it as well!)

On behalf of the six families and 12 rabbinical students serving in Chabad of Thailand, we bless you that G-d Almighty reward you for your kindness and that from now on we communicate with one another only about happy things, culminating with the coming of Mashiach speedily in our days, Amen.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor
Chabad-Lubavitch of Thailand
