hand wash it in cold water and do not squeeze. quickly reshape it and lay it down to dry.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend this but it can technically speaking go in the washing machine -we've had a few that have gone thru there and have "survived."

I wash them in the machine, but I can't say they come out like new. I try not to wash them too often.

I agree, the velvet ones get really repulsive esp. in summer. that alone is
a good argument for kippoh srugoh...all cotton, hand washable, scrubbable, stretch on a wig form or a cereal bowl, whatever you prefer. whose idea was velvet, anyway? why can't they make cotton yarmulkas that can be safely washed as often as necessary and are cooler, too? I on't wear velvet on my head in summer, do you?

chen, I have to agree serugah would be more comfortable but the Yeshivah where my son goes to school only wears velvet and it's also what my DH will only wear so my son has no choice and he likes it.

When we were at my friends pool I tried to get my son to take off his Yarmulka and he said it's wet anyway doesn't make a difference Smile
