My son has been home for a week because he has a break between yeshiva and camp. Because he now drives, he has been going to the yeshiva here in town for chassidus and had been at the early minyon every day. He also has been doing chessed by taking a handicapped teenaged boy to learn and then out to eat. He has taken the other bochrim to get slurpies between shiurim and also learned with a boy who needs some chizuk and took him to get ice cream. He was able to help set up and get supplies for a siyum. Because he can take responsiblity, he has been able to accomplish a lot by being a driver.

I would let them learn in senior year of high school if possible. that doesn't mean I am giving them the keys to the car. skills are best learned when one is young and can get practice under supervision.
