I want to let the montrealers know that the prevnar vaccine is for free now. If you didnt know it used to cost 125 dollars for the shot. You can get it by the clsc.

prevnar is the children's vaccine against pneumococcal infection. Pneumococcal infection is now the leading cause of meningitis in children under the age of 3. The vaccine has so drastically reduced the incidence of bacterial meningitis that the AAP has changed its recommendation regarding fever workup in children in that age range! The vaccine also helps reduce incidence of pneumonia and ear infections.

It is going to start in January. So call your clsc and see if you can get it there.

For all the montreallers you can give your children the prevnar shot by your clsc for free. If you go to your childs doctor it will cost 10 dollars. They started the prevnar shot DEC 1. Children over age 5 can not get it.
