My son's chasuna is coming up in another city. We will be flying there. How should I pack my gown? It is a floor-length gown, satin with a full skirt. While I traveled out of town for other chasunas, my gowns were then all 2 pieces and of less wrinklable materials.

My only thought is to put it in a dress length suit bag (which not long enough, I'd need to fold up the bottom somewhere) and carry it own, asking the stewardesses to hang it for me (they're usually pretty helpful when you tell them you traveling to a child's wedding). I am hesitant about folding up the bottom though as it will probably show a crease.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Mazel tov.
Where did you buy the gown, a store or dressmaker? Either way they prob should have "packed" it for you when you took it home. Usually gowns like that will come stuffed with paper in the sleeves, body and then put it plastic or garment bags. And they tell you to remove the plastic and hang it up at home...
I would travel with it stuffed and in a garment bag for sure. Maybe a local cleaners can pack it for you like that?

I took my wedding gown in a full length dress bag, internationally. They have closets on planes.

I rented it and received it as is on the hangar since I have to have it altered (which I have not yet done). I guess I could get the seamstress to stuff it like that. Thanks.

Where does one get a full length dress bag? Note that I'm not in the NY area.

Thanks.

if you're arriving early enough in the city where the wedding is, can you have it pressed there?

Maybe, but then I'd need to find a place to do it in an unfamiliar city. Much easier if I can get it there in good shape!

Ask the Bride's mom to do the research for you. She won't mind, I'm sure.

I'm sure she won't mind and certainly will ask her if necessary. It's just one less thing to deal with if I can avoid it.

Thanks.

I'm with su7kids ... I would not worry about the travel - but have it pressed locally in the town of the wedding ... still transporting in the garment bag ...

I flew to israel with my wedding gown in a garment bag and the stewardesses hung it up for me. I'm hoping that when I fly to israel this week for my bil's chasunah that I can do the same. shudt b a prob tho, I went el al last time and this time. also u most probably will need to press it when you get there. Ask ur machetunim to get you the number of a few places and ask if they press gowns on short notice.

Thanks. Yes, in the past I've found stewardesses very helpful about hanging something like this.

I will have the seamstress pack it properly for me in the garment bag I've ordered, and I will get a number in advance of a place to press/steam it as necessary the day of the chasuna (we won't get into that city until the evening of the previous day). I also have a small, traveling hand steamer that might be adequate if it arrives in almost good condition.

I flew with my wedding gown, the cleaners packed it for me with a shaper in the bust and tissue paper in the sleeves, covered it in plastic and put it in the full length garment bag for me.

The stewardess was very helpful, but the full length bag could not be hung - it was too long for the hanging space, so she cleared out an overhead compartment (it wasn't a full flight) and placed it flat there.
