Is there a real thing that once you touch your shoes you have to wash your hands every time? Two of my kids are refusing to wait to put there shoes on before they leave the house( I don't like shoes in the house especially boots) because then there's no sink nearby to wash

You first posted your thread less than 15 minutes ago. It takes time for a thread to gain traction.

I'm confused as to what you mean by this? Are you somehow disappointed in my answer?

No not demanding, I was just confused bc there didn't seem to be any connection between what I said and what you posted after, especially as you quoted my post and I just couldn't see anything connecting them.

You’re saying like wash negel vaaser?
You would need to before you daven if you touch your shoes

Yes I grew up like this.
They also holds that if you enter the bathroom to just get something, even if you don't use it, you need to wash your hands.
I don't follow any of this, it's very extreme.

Could be this is where this mishegas originates from and they took it a step further, wash your hands at time you touch it even if you're not davening. I don't know.

It's not a mishegas. Why would you want to be in a position not to be able to daven?

There is an halachic argument if today's bathrooms are considered lavatories according to halacha.

If it is, then even entering just to get something would necessitate hand washing.

I always heard if you touch the bottom of shoes, but we don't hold by this. I would ask your rav.

You can wipe your hands on material, it's good enough until you have water

My father is very makpud on tumah. He taught us to wash our hands after touching shoes, going into the bathroom, touching erva like your upper arm, scratching your head etc

yes it's a real thing to wash your hands after touching shoes and before davening.
when my dh leaves the house to daven, he puts on his shoes then washes his hands at the outdoor hose, then goes to shul to daven.

Y'know, I always thought of myself as DL and pretty chilled, but I also was taught this. Always thought it's kind of halacha and not a chumrah. I was told that washing under a tap is enough, no need to pour from a kli.

I really do wash my hands after touching any shoes or any part of the body that's normally covered by clothes (but not after simply entering the bathroom). Even if that means washing like 10 extra times during the day when getting the kids off in the morning etc. What

If they touch their shoes and don't wash, they have to wash before going into davening. This may be inconvenient for them. If they are going to have a snack on the way to school, or water, they need to wash before the bracha. Also, if younplay music in the car, there are varying opinions about listening to music that is from Torah and davening (real question for before saying Birkas HaTorah too), and singing it.

Where is the closest sink? Also, do you know if your dh hold one should wash immediately?
