My cousin asked me to help her choose light fixtures and wall art for her new house. I do it as a hobby but she wants to pay me. What's the average hourly rate in tristate area for such a service? I wanna charge her below the average cuz I'm really a beginner.
Also, I know most decorators charge an hourly rate, but which hours are included? Do I count the time spent browsing the internet for her things? The phone calls? Or only the actual time I'm in her house?
Any advice appreciated!

That’s so nice of you! Hours are considered any time you spend on the project- browsing, phone calls and in house measuring etc. I think 150 is considered lower end of the spectrum.

I’m in monsey and two popular designers charge 150 and 175 each (with a minimum of 10/15 hours).
I would say to charge 80.

I would charge between 50-80 an hr
