What would you do if your cleaning lady helps herself to and uses excessive amounts of paper towels, floor and surface cleaners, and even can go through close to a box of rubber gloves each time? It’s not like I can hide or ration how much of these she uses… she knows where I keep everything. But it’s pretty out of control.

Dilute everything. And show her next time how much to use. For gloves have only a few pairs available.

If she's using a whole box of gloves each time, it could be that she's taking some home.

Tell her for the environment you are switching to washable rags instead of paper towels. Buy her a pack of 20. Tell her after she leave she should stick them all in the washing machine and run a load of them. Buy her a pair of reusable cleaning gloves. Tell her you aren’t doing disposable anymore.

I’ve actually tried that…but she can use up a roll of paper towels just to wipe down a couple of counters. Her English is almost non existent too, so not sure how I can tactfully relay that she’s wasting too much paper towel, etc.

That doesn’t always help.
My cleaning lady never rinses the mop or the pail. And uses 5 inches of water for the whole house. I showed her plenty of times she had to fill the pail up almost all the way annd showed her the right amount of soap. Doesn’t always help sometimes I’m busy and I can’t be ontop of her and then the house smells bad when she leaves. And it took me a few months to realize because the house smaller so bad when were she left. Once I realized I made sure she washed and rinsed the mop and pail.
I also keep reminding her to use new gloves when she touches all the toys and the vaccine and broom. She cleans the bathroom then dining room and the vacuum, broom and toys are all sticky an d gross but idk why she doesn’t listen.

I thought of that too, but I usually see the used ones in the trash can…

Mine also uses crazy amount of paper towels and spray.
She used my sponge to clean my stove when I wasn’t looking. When she knows to use paper towel or a washable rag.

My cleaning lady was walking out with the reusable cleaning rags I'd buy, and I saw her pouring my cleaner into her own water bottles and just walking out with it. I ended up letting her go when I realized she was doing that, but it was really because we really just cant afford a cleaning lady at all. I did not replace her. But if she wanted to take some shmattas and fabuloso, fine.

I had this with a new immigrant. I figured where she came from they needed to preserve water. It took persistence and a few tries plus google translate and being on top of her but she’s better now.

Stop giving her paper towels and sponges and give her these to use. Wash them after each use. It's cheaper and better.

Stop the one-use gloves and get the re-usable ones.

Tried that too… then she will just ask for more… it’s hard to say, “No, you used up your limit for today.”

She takes the sponge from the sink with the dishes. She also knows where I keep my paper towels as I store my vaccume there too.

That’s a good idea but she sees where I keep my extra storage stuff and I have a lot that I stock up on… it’s crazy that I have to start hiding stuff from her.

Yeah. I also have to keep reminding mine to keep changing the dirty water, or she’ll go through numerous rooms mopping with the same water. I find they’re good in the beginning but when they get comfortable, many times they get lazy…

You don't need a ton of the rags, you need about 30. One pack. I keep them right in my mop bucket, in a bag. One bag of clean, then one bag for the used ones. It takes zero extra storage.
