I chose to be in the therapy field because I'm good at it and it was a logistically smart choice for me. I'm 20 years in but I'm finding that with my personality type it's just too much for me. Im always analyzing things through my professional lense and getting caught up in how I would deal with any issue I see as if it were my responsibility to help my client through it.
It's exhausting.
I can't change careers now as I have a good job and I need the money.
I wish there was some way to turn myself off when I'm not at work but it's just so much a part of me and who I am.
Any suggestions?

You need your own therapist for now. Not uncommon.

I am struggling with the same exact thing. In fact when I saw your title I guessed it was about this field.
I have an amazing EMDR therapist who is helping me learn to set boundaries and figure all this out. If you don’t have your own therapist for sure find one

What’s your degree/license ? Can you pivot to another job with the same degree?
