I think I will cook it partially tom or Wednesday, and then reheat Friday, closer to the zman.

I'm doing cubed potatoes, onions, nice piece of meat. Maybe sweet potato too. Salt, pepper.

Interesting idea. So then you'll just keep it in the fridge?

I used canned potatoes all the time which are basically boiled. We like the texture a lot.

They're already cooked. Just need to heat through before Shabbos.

I never heard of canned potatoes. That would save me time both on Friday and whichever day I put together the cholent. Where do I find them? With the other canned vegetables?
So the boiled potato tastes fine in the cholent?
Thanks!
(It would save time b/c I'm having guests on Friday and by the time the meal finishes I will have to rush to make the cholent so that it has time to cook before Shabbos starts).

For pesach, I find them in the kosher section of the grocery store where all the canned vegetables are.

The rest of the year I buy in the regular canned food aisle because they are cheaper.
