So we tried toilet training my son over yom tov. Being that I work and he goes to gan, we decided to try when he had almost 5 days off (Friday-Tuesday). I am exhausted, drained, I thought I was going to lose my mind. This was despite the fact that he was making making pretty good progress. It's just that I had to constantly be on top of him at the same time I was trying to prepare yom tov & take care of a difficult baby. I counted down the minutes 'til his nap and bedtime.
Anyway.... he was really doing nicely. We figured he might even be ready to go to gan today in underwear and if not, we were willing to keep him home an extra day or 2.
But the last 1 1/2 days he pretty much regressed. Had no interest in sitting on the toilet anymore and just kept on going on the floor (except for #2 b"h).
So today he's back in gan in diapers and I am completely drained.
Do we just give it up for now & try again in a few months? Do we try again this weekend, or keep on trying when he gets home from gan? Try new techniques?
He's 2 1/2 and he needs to be trained by Elul when he starts his new gan. I'm pretty sure he's ready as far as knowing when he has to go and all that. He's also been aware of this for ages because he's one of the youngest in his gan so most of the kids are trained already.

From my experience last year at this time: give it a break for 2 weeks. He knows what he's doing. Let him rest, then try again. Two weeks. Just don't mention it or anything. Shhhhh. Then try again. With help from Above, it will work!
Literally, mamash just a year ago, when mine was 2.5. Wow, time flies.

yeah, give it a break for a little while, and try again.
I also tried for the same reasons around Thanksgiving (bc I had 5 days off in a row), day 1 was ok. day 2 he refused to sit--would have major tantrums not wanting to sit. So, we quit.
I didn't have a chance to try again, and he only just turned 3, but I got a new babysitter and she started him off last week, and BH he's fine by day (maybe 1 little wet accident/day) and I still put him in diapers to sleep. He can't tell me yet when he has to go, but if I keep him at reasonable intervals, he'll wait to go on the potty. In fact, the wet accidents in the afternoon are bc I lost track of time, so it was my fault.
Hatzlochah!
