If it's in a crockpot, does it end up tasting like cholent or does it stay chicken soup?
Can I make soup in the crockpot? Does anyone do that? How?

If you don't mind a very dark chicken soup it works well. My SIL loves it, I'm not as keen on the taste from cooking so long.
Just put up chicken, veggies, aromatics and water as you usually do and set it to low to cook over shabbos.

?
I make chicken soup in the crockpot for Shabbos day sometimes. It is delicious, and it stays soup so long as you add enough water. But mine does get very dark in color. it looks more like beef broth and has a more intense flavor. But everyone really enjoys it.

The few times I've done it, I just kept the pot on the hot tray from the beginning of shabbos until lunch. It only got a little bit darker.

If I put all the ingredients that I normally do raw, right before Shabbos ....and leave in crock pot till Shabbos lunch, will it have a heavy taste ?
What if I put chicken frozen?
