Help! I kashered all my kids' beds for Pesach, but the blowtorch left some ashes on the mattresses which look suspiciously like crumbs.

Do I buy them new Pesach beds, pour bleach all over the mattresses, or use a microscope during Bedikas Chometz to make sure that the crumb-like dust is pure carbon?

BTW, not sure which topic to put this under, anyone experienced with reattaching toilets? The hagalah apparently melted the sealing ring and I can't get it to go back on right.

Thanks for all your advice! I'm spending so long getting my salt water just right I don't have time to research the above properly. I'm hoping the wise women here can help!

Sorry, I can't help. I just got finished sorting 300 piles of outgrown clothing for all my future grandchildren, and I need to get them back into the rented shipping containers in my yard. This is pesach cleaning, BTW. I'm not sure what you're doing is considered pesach cleaning, though.

Who is your rav? It sounds appealing and I may want to switch. Does he have to use a new [gentile] every year once the parents don't buy the kids back?

You're kashering wrong.

We submerge our beds into a vat of boiling water and then bury them in dirt for 24 hours.

I'm pretty sure the blowtorch method is only for clothing, bathroom appliances, and toys.

Omg!!! Rolling Laughter

Thanks for the laugh. A pity some of you with great sense of humor are anonymous. Keep them coming.

Op- maybe you should reconsider and give up on kashering those beds. Amother here makes it so much easier.

Of course I have special for Pesach beds locked in my attic. I also have special for Pesach kids.
I put my regular kids away and pull out my Pesachdik ones. It's amazing how well behaved they are all Pesach. They play with the toys and aren't bored with them. It's as if they've never seen my toys before.

Nah we have a whole separate bedroom for pesach. It's decorated in matzah patterned wallpaper! We love it, so festive. We can even dream about matzah 😋

What about other relatives? How do you kasher them?
I think I’ll just call the cdc and ask them to sanitize everything. Will make life easier and won’t have to find cleaning help.

Those who haven't reach this madrega yet could still use it. Threatening the kids of they are unruly. I am thinking of opening an agency for this purpose only , big bucks.

Better that than kashering kids with the blowtorch, I guess.

We’re JPF. We hold that we only need to toivel the beds then let air dry. It’s a great activity for the bachurim. They take apart the beds, take them to Mikva to dip, bring back, set up. No big deal. Feel bad for you that you were told to kasher. Are you sure there’s a source for that or just minhag?

About the toilets we do the same. Take apart, take to Mikva to dip and bring back. No hagala necessary. Please check your sources!

I sure hope I'm not dipping my new pot into the same mikva that your toilet dipped into Very Happy

Everyone knows that blowtorching is very, very, very bdieved, but at least OP did that
A proper Oveid Hashem will actually burn the whole house down and rebuild from scratch each year.
I feel sorry for you.

The toilet gets a full chafifa before. It’s as clean as your new pots.
