Heard of this before? Putting a cup of hot tea before cooking will make your roast tender?

Slow cooking it and adding a little water (or some other liquid like wine) will also make it tender.

It has something to do with breaking down the fibers.

I'm telling you - slow cook it!
My mom also uses wine in her roast, but they're never tender. My mil, otoh, always slow cooks them and they are sooooooo tender.
(mmmmm. . . I'm salivating).

I never put wine!
what type of wine would you use???
hey I've only cooked a roast once - to $$$$$
It was a real treat!!
but anyways, I cooked it in a deep pan, 1/3 filled with water, potatoes, onions and carrots on the side, salt, pepper, paprika (dh needs sweet israeli paprika in a lot of meat stuff...) and cooked it for 6 HOURS!! on 275F
IT WAS DELICIOUS and lasted for 3 meals, got better every night, with the extra warming in the oven.....
almost passing out from remembering the taste.....

I slow cook in the oven. At the end, I uncover it so that it's slightly crispy on the outside, but tender inside.

And on a bed of onions to give flavor and natural moisture that is absorbed in.
In addition, let it sit and cool before cutting it so that the moisture goes back into the roast as opposed to dripping out

I modified a recipe I saw on here and made a roast in my crock pot. I used a crock pot bag, put in sliced onions, carrots, some sliced zuccinni and canned whole potatoes. I rubbed the roast with a bag of onion soup mix and put it on top of the vegetables. I covered the roast with more sliced onions and a bottle of beer. I covered it and cooked it on the low setting from about 9am to 5:30pm. It was so easy and came out great.

oh wow, all these roast recipes are making me drool!
What kind of meat are you all roasting? Briskt? Kalichel?
I've always wanted to try the coca cola brisket, and beer sounds great too! I let it simmer with marinated onions and a can of tomato juice a long time on the stovetop, when I tried it in the slow cooker, the part that wasn't covered in cooking liquid got dried out.

Can of Coke (not diet)
Onion soup mix
Ketchup
Mix and pour over brisket, cook a long time. I've also heard of a variation with Ginger Ale. Does this sound about right?

I dont do this anymore because ingredients are not healthy but ITS always GREAT< SOFT< SUPERB.
Use a variety of Coke/ GingerAle/ beer and Chutney/ketchup/onion soup mix.
cook covered for about 3 half hours on slow. take out of gravy, when cold slice thinly, then rewarm in gravy and serve.

Has anyone slow-cooked a veal roast? I've slow cooked beef brisket (200 for 6 hours) and I'm making a veal roast this shabbos. Can I follow the same slow-cooking method?
