It's tempting for a lazy lady like me.

Anyway, here's what I found on the topic.

R' Elie Kahn wrote:

(The permanent make up, although it only stays a few years, is as I said in another answer, forbidden by the majority of decisionaries.
The rav who allowed it maybe followed the opinion of R' Mordechai Eliaou who allows it.)

So apparently the majority sees it like a tatoo, with some rabbis who disagree. Smile

Isn't a tatoo something that is for life while the eye liner is just temporary.

Wonder if it raises problems when one has to go to the mikveh since it is makeup after all.

I'm wondering if tinting eyebrows falls under the same catergory

I asked a rav about this once, according to his all permanent make-up is a tattoo and is clearly forbidden.

Tinting eyebrows, however, should be no different from dying the hair on your head though. There's no coloration of skin involved, just hair.

But you are not allowed to go to mikvah with temporary dye in your hair, only permanent, so would that be the same for tinting eyebrows? Is it temporary or permanent dye?

it depends on how you look. you may have to tint before mikvah.

hair is slightly different than eyebrows, though. you don't see them growing out.

Well, I know one is not allowed to toivel with temporary dye in their hair for sure. So is what they use to tint eyebrows? Temporary? Or is it real permanent hair dye which you are allowed to toivel with?

I don't nec. do my eyebrowns/lashes right before I toivel; I don't want the dye from my skin to be a problem.

Nevermind if its on your skin, it could be a problem just being on eyebrow or eyelash hair.

Permanent dye changes the pigment in each hair. So, not a chatzitzah.
Temporary dye just coats the hair with dye. Chatzitzah!

I have the permanent eye liner and I regret it very much I was 16 and not frum without my mother knowing it after she discover me she was very upset because it's obviously a tattoo and she told me it's forbiden by jewish law.
they told me it lasts for 8 years and its like 14 and it doesn't go away at all.
I asked a rav before I got married and he told me a can go to the mikvah, imagine not going?

G-d forbid if you pass away ? are you allowed to be burried in a jewish
cemetary? if permanent eye liner is considered a tattoo?

It is a myth that one with a tattoo may not be buried in a Jewish cemetery.
Although tattooing is assur, one would still receive a kosher burial.

If it is in good state (= you would go out in the streets like that without any problem), I have learned the same.
