AFAIK as a yiddish speaker
Hun (hoon) is a male
Hin (heen) is a female
Hindl (heen-del) is a little one. Most commonly used when referring to a bunch of chickens - heendelech.
As others pointed out there's hindA and hEndel (btw a male name too, pronounced hane-del), 2 different names, neither like the yiddish word for chicken (which btw is most commonly referred to as kapparos - live ones. The ones we eat is just chicken. OK Im rambling already...)
