Mine uses “sped” a lot. And she answers questions or statements with an “oh”. So if I wrote that she forgot to clean the dishes, it’s an “oh” response. If she’s late, that’s also an “oh”. Honestly, what does she even mean? Our family is “dysfunctional”, always. She has all the words down pat, lol. And I am a huge embarrassment to her Wink

Oh yea, I forgot about that one! My daughter says “like actually?” all the time!!
My daughter doesn't say actually all the time. She cuts off the end of the word and says act. Also we were walking around her camp yesterday for visiting day and every other second she would pass people who would look at her and say "Are those your sibs?Heaven!!

This thread. I'm dying. It's like totally dysfunctional. Having our mothers talk about us this way is so cringe. I mean legit. I just can't.

That's Sick!

Means great.

I learned that from Kichels.

I think it's only for boys, though.

My boys say that, but my daughter says it too. They also say “fire” which I think is cooler than sick.

Mine says basically, when she starts saying anything. Makes me laugh every time.
Basically I went to school today, and basically the girl behind me was missing her notebook. So basically I gave her mine. Hahaa

I started counting how many times my daughter says basically in every conversation. it's over the top.
I find this annoying.

also, I'm fainting. as in "the rugelach smell so good, I'm fainting".
I find this hysterical.

sometimes she says "I'm psyched".
I find this cringey so I told her not to say it.

Special ed- another way of saying weird, off, etc. It’s awful and I hate it, and I’m trying to get my kids not to say it.

A lot of Lakewood women (especially the younger ones) say “socially off” a lot. They make it sound like the worst thing in the world and some of us feel like we’re socially off so it puts a lot of distance between us and them. In general it puts a lot of high school or even middle school vibes on the table. So uncomfortable for grown women to have to deal with.

This is why I tell my teens that most people are socially off. Reality check.

It is awful. Mine do it too. I'm the last person to make fun of special needs people. I'm going to tell then that every time they say it they need to offer an hour of their time to help the neighbor who has a special needs child.
