I just saw this thread now, and this sounds right up my alley. I'm wondering--has anyone tried it with whole wheat ziti?

Anyone know if I can freeze this? I need to make like 6 trays for a party but have an oven that can only bake 2 at a time and I want to do things in advance...

Has anyone tried this using ricotta or cottage cheese in addition to the mozzarella? I like my ziti more on the creamy side than on the cheesy side, and was wondering how it would come out, how much to add, etc.

I added 1 small container of cottage cheese. It was really good and creamy

Thanks so much. Since it's tisha be'av today I really didn't want to spend time in the kitchen or make dishes or hands dirty. This meal took literally 3 minutes, nothing dirty, and it's a perfect delicious (well, I'll wait till after the fast to verify this) meal for the kids.

apparently freezing it unbaked is better. defrost then bake (it takes a long time to defrost I think) I just don't know if that means cooking the pasta first or not.
I can't imagine why that wouldn't work, as long as its covered well to prevent freezer burn (well thats true in both cases, cooked and uncooked)

Just put this in the oven for after the fast. That was so quick and clean! If it comes out good then this will def. be a keeper Smile

I added a container of cottage cheese, a pack of mozzarella and some cheddar.

I hope it wasnt too much cheese.

I just made this (with whole wheat ziti) to break our fast. In DH's word, "It's a winner!" Thank you for posting this. Anyone else with super fast recipes--please post!! My job has forced me to become "the 5 minute chef."

I always freeze lasagna and casseroles. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Maybe only bake it for an hour so it doesn't get overcooked when you reheat it.

This sounds fantastic! Two questions: Can I use rice milk instead (we don't buy real milk) ? Can I freeze this?

I just added a full jar of milk, by mistake. Think it'll be a problem? Should I still add water?
