No guests this week, so nothing too exciting.

Friday night -
Split Pea Soup
Brisket Strip
Cutlets
Broccoli Kugel
Butternut Squash Kugel
Cucumber Salad, Tomato salad, and Cole Slaw (not store bought, we don't like it)

For dessert I just made applesauce and chocolate chip cookies. I have some ices I made last week still in the freezer.

Shabbos lunch we just eat the leftovers plus some deli and cholent (I make kishka and put some in the cholent also). I usually put out some various store brought spreads, my husband likes them with my challah.

CATEGORY: DIP

SPARSLIC from Shmuel & Sara Weinstein’s cookbook from their Chabad house on campus In Pittsburgh

Sparslic - A Great Garlic Dip
1 pod fresh garlic (12 large cloves)
3/4 cup oil (canola or olive)
1/2 cup dried parsley
1/2 tsp salt

(This recipe only works with fresh garlic.)

Peel and chop garlic in food processor or garlic press. Combine with remaining ingredients before serving. Enjoy.

Great dip for bread or crackers and you can use the leftovers for garlic bread. You can also use it as a spice on salad, potatoes, on fish, etc.

Another great dip is
a handful of basil
2 cloves Garlic
1 tsp Kosher Salt
1 cup Light Olive Oil

Take basil and chop very small, Crush the garlic into the basil, then sprinkle the kosher salt over them and crush it into the basil and garlic with a fork. Scoop this all up and add it to the cup of olive oil. Enjoy!

I keep it on the blech overnight.
You just have to hold the pot when you serve it, and then put it back on immediately.

Defy: just curious - why would you want hot soup when it is so hot outside? I have heard of this in the winter but not in the summer.

hot soup is great when you're sitting in the ac! AND if you have enough frozen, you don't have to make it each week!

I like soup anytime (people eat cholent in the summer, so I don't really see the difference).

It doesn't really go down, but it's a lot more flavorful the next day.
