What about this?

It's a bit casual for my taste, but more importantly, how does it fit? Seems to me to be narrow at the hip.

I haven’t tried it but love this store in general. Usually they run true to size but this one does look like it could run narrow.

They have locations in Brooklyn and Tom’s river
I also did well one year with a maxi dress at Japparel. I wear often Friday nights and shbbs morning.

It's definitely just a matter of opinion.

But it's not what people wear these days. Those robes were in style when I was in elementary school.
Now the robes are much more flattering and comfortable.

Thanks so much everyone for taking the time. I was really just looking to vent.
(An amazon dress won't have that look and feel of a nice shabbos robe. BTDT with my last baby)

I don't know. I bought some really nice things on Amazon. Even stuff that I wore to two of my siblings weddings was from Amazon

Might just take a little bit of playing around with the filters you know for material style and such, but it is possible to find some nice things.

The chassidish lingerie/robe shops have the best robes. Huge huge selection, usually a sale on last seasons which look the same. If you share your location I can share store names.

Dress Blank has similar items. They are maxi dresses. And they are priced in the 50$ range.

Polyester is what drives me the most crazy! If anyone finds any cotton robes for kids or adults can you let us know?

Seraphine. Not great material either, but all dresses are nursing friendly and not crazy expensive. Have to sort through to find the ones that don't need a shell... Hatzlacha

Today was the third time I went out to look for a robe, spent at least an hour, and came home with nothing!!!
Why are all the robes I tried on in Jewish stores costing almost 200 bucks? They are literal shmattes. Why does plastic clothes cost so much money???

Why do so many robes need a shell??? Isn't that the point of buying a robe in a frum store??? Not to have to layer? Besides, when the robe costs what it costs (precisely because it's an exclusive Jewish item), I dont' want to spend another 30 bucks for a shell.

Why are so many robes made that I can't nurse in them? I mean, aren't about a third of Jewish women at any given time nursing their babies/toddlers? If I can only nurse in my bedroom by lifting up the whole robe from the bottom, it's a no-go for me.

Why are they nearly all made of polyester??? Can we have cottons please???? I need some breathable fabric. My last robe was a cotton velour, but I can't find another sucha. In the summer, same problem. Can we have cool lightweight breathable materials and not shvitzy polyester?

All this is besides for the difficult fit. I feel privileged and entitled complaining about this factor. I have a typical Jewish momma shaped figure - hips that are disproportionately wider than my upper body. I canNOT take a size bigger to accomodate my behind because then it hangs under my arms, but a size smaller sits on my behind and hips. Can we please have robes with SPACE to breathe in them? Like after eating a meal and my belly expands a bit, can we have the extra mileage there and yet still have it fit nicely on top?

I am so frustrated!!!

Am I asking for too much?

Right on, sistah!
So how about starting your own business designing robes to your specifications? Surely someone on Etsy can produce a first model if you don't sew, after which you can look for a factory to mass-produce. (FTR, I davka don't need more hip space as I have no tush at all, but I can use extra room in the midsection. Just saying. )

Velour and velvet are mostly cotton. Lingerie shop has a lot of cotton robes in general.

Thank Hakadosh Baruch Hu you are nursing. I wish . I haven’t anything remotely like your figure. I have a hard time with robes mostly for the prices. I actually wear a nursing robe. So idk what you are talking about. But really don’t take your gift for granted

I get the need for nursing robes, but I wouldn’t want the stores to make all robes nursing designed. When I’m not nursing I do not want to think about it and I want to wear nice robes without zippers and buttons. I absolutely do not want my entire adult life to revolve around nursing.

Lots of velour is poly these days. You can tell be looking and feeling. It's thin, shiny, slipper, cold, heavy.

Lol I’m stuck on the fact that at any given time 30% are nursing. Trying to do the math if that’s true.
So if these are women’s robes it’s for age 17 to 70+. Out of the 53 year range people have children on and off for around 25 tops. From this 25 year age range what percentage is nursing at any given time? I’d say not more than 25%.
So that’s around 12% of potential customers….
There are robes with front zippers, and robe tops and skirts, and even some with side zippers….
I don’t think they specifically need to be more accommodating to nursing moms. Especially if there’s an easy solution with the zippers..
