Finally, someone else with this issue! This is also my main reason for not having one. And I really need help! Besides this, there is also the inconvenience of having to be home but being restricted in terms of what you can do at the same time as the cleaner is working. I fear that I will end up paying but not gaining any time, and, if I had the time, I would be happy to do it myself. Did anyone have these reasons for not having a cleaner and then eventually yield?

No cleaning help currently.

Might need to with dh working 3 jobs and me working full-time. We'll see.

I had my cleaner come in the evening, about 4-5pm which was great. I was busy with the kids and almost always in at that time of the day.

You can just have her clean the kitchen, bathroom, living room and hallway and do the other rooms yourself.

LOL, I meant that I change it more often than needed just to give the bathroom a clean feel.

Sorry GR, but I had to tell you, that 'clean' smell is not that great after all.

Read here about it:

I don't have cleaning help either. I feel uncomfortable having someone else clean my house. I really need to get over that.

I have one on and off. I clean everything myself usually. If I'm lucky and get one for like 3 hours then I make sure that everything is done and all she has to do is wash-wash the floor, the bathroom, the hallway....

OMG, are you me? That is exactly my situation. Sometimes if she comes on a Friday I will leave the last few shabbos cooking dishes in the sink.

Oh and dh is very supportive and helpful in many areas, but cleaning is not one of them. He will help me put away sometimes, but touching a dish or broom is like asking him to wear a dress, he cannot handle it.

When I was single and renting with room-mates we always had a cleaner come in once a week. But since I'm married and it is my home I couldn't face it. I did once bring in a cleaner and I just couldn't sit in my house watching her clean, so I helped her and we did the cleaning together - she thought I was insane, which maybe I am, but that day I realized that there just isn't any point if it's not saving me the work!

I've never had cleaning help. I always say I'll get a cleaning lady soon, but I'd like to put it off for as long as I can. Once you start, it's hard to go back.

No cleaning help.
At first couldn't afford it.
When we could and dh pressed I refused. I too don't want a strange person walking around here, and in EY it is customary to "clean with the ozeret".
Who needs that?! I can clean just fine alone and if it is an emergency one of the kids or dh helps with something heavy.
When I had a metapelet who cleaned a bit after the kids nothing was ever put back. I had to put everything back myself, who needs that?
The thought of a stranger going through my thing?
Feh.
When the time comes and I am old and sick and still alive, I'll get one then...

Thank G-d now I have but when I was living in NY I didn't. It's much more affordable here.

I'm just living in squalor. After my beloved babysitter/housekeeper retired, I figured I'd have tons more money. Nope -- Hashem gave me enough to pay her, and if I didn't need to pay her, Hashem apparently found other uses for the money. I keep thinking of hiring someone or even a service to do big jobs like windows, etc., but I never seem to follow through.
