What? The years before mechina are most definitely called gan, even if the gan is part of the cheder.

Honestly curious where in Tanach the name Tzvi is mentioned? Since I see a lot of you wrote it here a as a suggestion.
It’s my grandfathers name, but didn’t previously name after him. I have a soft spot for Tanach names and didn’t think tzvi was one of them

I live in israel. suepr yeshivish. like no smart phone yeshivish:)
my friend who comes form a huge very mechubadik family jsut named her baby achinoam. another who is the daughter and grandaughter of a very famous rosh yeshiva named her daughter sarit.
I think that there is a big shift. almost like people are really looking to make a change.

I also live in an Israeli chareidi area (hubby is israeli) and I have not heard of any girl in my neighborhood named sarit or buys names achinoam. Its cool though

10 years ago when I lived in Yerushalayim in very. charedi neighborhood, Noa (girl's name) was very popular. There were several Noas in her gan, from very charedi homes.

you know what, my daughter does have a noa in her class! and the father is a dayan. I always thought it was a more dati name. I wonder if these names will be more popular in the chareidi world soon then. Happens to be I love israeli names but could never use it. like tomer, nadav, matan for example.

Some tanachi names that (I think) were not mentioned:
Elyashiv
Benaya
Itiel
Sraya
Achiya
Neria

I'm not yeshivish, I don't think they are common but they are from tanach so why not Smile

Noa is all over now chareidi circles. Whenever I go to peoples home and see class lists on the fridge there's always at least one Noa per class (third grade and under) it's now popular.

Achinoam is actually (usually) a girl's name. She was one of dovid hamelech's wives

What are you asking for every boys name in the book?
Go through gedolim that you learned something from or are meaningful to you. That's where you'll find the most yeshivish names.
Look in the Parashah.
What is your DH learning now? Is there a rishon he really connects to?

I'm yeshivish and I love the name Yair but DH says it's too uncommon.
It was Mordechai Hatzadik's father's name - Mordechai ben Yair ben Shimi ben Kish Ish Yemini, so it's totally from Tanach.
DH said we can do Meir instead but I think Yair is nicer.

Other names I love:
Betzalel - I love the meaning and the sound
Akiva
Yehuda
Daniel
Shmuel
Dov - nicknamed Dovi
Zev- nicknamed Zevi
