What is chassidish life like?

It's for this reason that maybe some ppl like me could be allowed into the chassidish forum, as long as I am respectful. I mean no harm , only curiousity.

I think chocolate moose can't imagine someone like me who is pure and just trying to learn about different minhagim? I was even thinking of starting a different thread on what makes lubavitch who they are b/c of something my dh's aunt said on shabbos.

I dont have a problem answering simple questions about chasidish life, but not deep, challenging ones, because I do not know the answers. I live my life by mesorah and example, not by questions and explanations and pondering.

I don't have any deep challenging ones. Just want to know the basics. Like what you do on certain holidays, shabbos. How is it that everybody is such balabustes etc.? Along those lines. I am only interested in the women's part. let all the manly questions be answered on imafather.com.

heres what I dont get. why do chassidishe woman wear robes outside of the home (or at home) when

1) they are EXTREMEMLY UNATTRACTIVE

and 2) they arent tznius at all! u can see every curve and whatever else...???

Yeah, but I decided that she can't be the know all and that there are probably many beautiful answers out there.

they prob. don't know how they look......I have worn a robe before and have been told, don't you know how thin that is?

I was just making a general statement, not necessarily to you. I just think that this website needs a bit of toning since it is a frum site and it should have standards .

I'm ok with robes- though I'd never wear one outside myself. My son's ganenet wears ONLY robes to gan and I think sometimes she looks more put together than me!!!! But, today, I saw a lady- very pregnant- in a very unattractive floral robe, and she reminded me of somethng/somewhere. Finally I realized. Though she was walking down the streets of Beitar, she looked like she could have been walking through the maternity ward in any hospital here in Israel. She was hunched over her stroller (her one year old was sitting inside) which mimiked the stanse of a women as she pushes around her newborn in the hospital cart. That may have contributed to the image.
Either way I had to do a double take.......what? where am I?
