You should make a poll.

Dress 1 w/ shell
Dress 1 w/ cardigan
Dress 2 w/ shell
Dress 2 w/ cardigan
Beef jerkey

can't get kosher beef jerkey here.

a poll is a good idea, but it seems to be 50/50 anyway.

I love how opinion is sooo divided and people are so vehemently against one or the other.

btw this wedding is not going to be in boro park - it is in an oot location, and I don't think the kallah cares what the kids are wearing. so I am not making myself meshuga.

LOL Smile
well, I think no matter WHAT they wear, sweet little girls wearing white poofy dresses will look like princesses regardless. and no one will be thinking, "hmm, that 7 year old shouldve worn a [cardigan/shell] instead of a [shell/cardigan] with that dress. totally doesnt do justice to the look."

I know someone who bough such gowns for her daughters. I thought they were full gowns, until someone pointed out that the girls were wearing sleeveless dresses, with ruffle-neck shells underneath.
It was the ruffles of the shell that made it blend in with the dress's neckline. I could not even tell that the gown was two pieces.
Do you have access to such ruffle-neck shells where you are?

If you don't, I'd go with the cardigans. Regular crew-neck shells will cheapen the look, like greenfire said.

you will not be able to attach sleeves properly- a sleeveless dress is made such that theshoulder seam is just under the shoulder line- for sleeves it ia supposed to be just over the shouldre line. adding sleeves will make the shoulders look just a bit too small.
if you can find a shell the exact color I'd got with that- I can show you a picture of what my daughters wore- a sleeves dress ( iwas too lazy to amek sleeves) with a cardigan on top.
also note that they don't have the size cargidan that you need. a shell on top makes it just a tad less fancy- you say the wedding is in the us? it is so much more in style here (not that I approve) to wear a sleeves dress with a shell- a cardigan is more classy - the old ladies will delight by it, the younger generaton will say you are out of style.
heres a pic

They're gorgeous.

And Raisin, while I have strong personal opinions, I am certain that the girls will look gorgeous no matter which you choose.

Rasin, for my wedding we brought a bunch of bhs bridesmaid dresses. They were sleeveless. but right next to it in the adult section they had pashminas of EXACTLY the same material and we made sleeves which looked part of the dress, there was no problem (as one poster) said of attaching it. As the pashminah is very long you can get 4 sleeves out of it and save your self time and hassel. do u have a bhs near you? if not look in the adult section of debenhams. usually the brands that make bridesmaid dresses do so also for adults.

I vote for the first dress with white shells. I think it will be a stunning combination.

I did order some dresses from the bhs website (no bhs where I live) but then debenhams had a sale so someone got these dresses from me. I think I like the debenhams ones better, although I haven't actually seen the bhs ones yet.

I found a nice cardigan today which goes really nicely with the first dress, not the second one, so I think I will stick with those.

micki your dds are cute! I like their dresses. I wish I could find something other then white or ivory.
