So basically vouchers aren’t really helpful for us since personally what we are approved of is less than our tuition discount. So next year the school will tell us we have to pay near full tuition?

Dear Parents,

You are receiving this letter as a parent receiving CCS Voucher payments. Please read the entire letter to ensure you understand the new program regulations announced by the state.

Bais Yaakov has been notified that effective immediately, the State is changing its Absenteeism Policy for students receiving Vouchers. These new requirements can impact your tuition planning and/or cause the State to remove your child(ren) from their program.

The New Policy

The State will only provide payment to Bais Yaakov for 10 consecutive days of absence if they are due to documented medical illness, family vacation or bereavement. For these absences, the parents need to provide Bais Yaakov with documentation demonstrating the medical illness, vacation plans or bereavement, which Bais Yaakov must submit to the State.

This State system does not allow the upload of documentation after we have submitted the bi-weekly attendance record. Therefore, you MUST provide it as soon as you know the absence will stretch 10 days, or PRIOR to the 9th day. The State notified us that they will no longer pay for absences greater than 10 days under any circumstances.

In a case of absences of 10 consecutive days which do not have this documentation, or absences of greater than 10 consecutive days for any reason, the school is required to file a “Child No Longer in Care (CNLIC)” form. According to the State’s notice to us, it seems this will terminate the voucher for the child and the family will have to reapply when they begin sending again.

What does this mean?


Based on this information, it seems that if you do not use your voucher over the summer at a participating camp, the voucher will be terminated and you will have to reapply.
If your child is absent for 10 consecutive days, you must provide Bais Yaakov with a documented reason for the absence: a doctor’s note, plane ticket, itinerary, etc. BEFORE the ninth day of absence.
If your child is absent for more than 10 consecutive days, even if we submit materials, the school will not receive Voucher payments for the time your child was absent past the 10 days. This may impact your tuition payment plan. Bais Yaakov is happy to be able to accept payments from this program, which enables eligible parents to receive State funding towards their tuition obligations. Parents are responsible for meeting their tuition obligations if the school does not receive CCS funding.

This information is new and was introduced with little lead time from the State. We continue to reach out to the State for clarification and will share any additional information as we learn of it.

I believe you can overide it with a plane ticket reservation to prove travel or a drs. note to prove illness as a reason for non-attendance. I am going to try to find the letter Bais Yaakov sent out


The school my kids go to doesn’t go through the summer and camp ends more than 10 days before schools starts starts.

Thanks for sharing this.
Interesting. I wonder if it counts if the school isn’t open. Like then it isn’t an absence. So summer may not make a difference. Hmmmm. I guess we will find out.

Working for school is different. The "break" is not financial aid but a benefit of working for the school. The balance is your obligation which you pay w cash or vouchers (or apply for a scholarship)

Well, they can't charge you more than (full tuition - vouchers)
But applying is the right thing to do to help the school make up for that gap
If you can't afford it, appeal your financial aid decision. No fun but it's possible.

Yeah. Right now our financial aid break is more than full-vouchers so it really won’t help us at all. Oh well. Hopefully they will have some pity on us for next year. Things are just getting tougher and I’m majorly freaking out.

At first I didn’t realize the vouchers were to help the school and not the parents. Because I assume if you qualify for vouchers you aren’t paying full tuition….

Bnos does not take vouchers as of yet. They sent an email to the parent body that they are trying to get the daycare approved for vouchers. But nothing yet.


Bnos Daycare is voucher approved.
