curious about this. Generally the people I know who are makpid on cholov yisrael myself included, are not they type to go to a movie theater. Why would a yid want to go to a place like that?

Movie theaters are places where you can go, sit in a seat for a couple of hours, and during that time not interact with anyone who didn't go there with you.

And in case you're bored, they play a movie.

Oh. I thought the popcorn is cholov stam. I was also including whatever chocolates concession usually sells. That’s why I mentioned that I only keep cholov Yisrael

And honestly, I hate licorice

No, the popcorn is not at all kosher. Do some people eat it? Sure they do. Is it kosher? Big fat no. Meaning, it's not kosher but CS. It's literally not kosher.

Junior Mints is a chocolate that they sell and is, like I said, OUD, but I called the OU and they told me to consider it to be DE.

I’m not talking about anything major. Just sour belts and popinsanity popcorn

"Major" or not - if you have to sneak something in, that in and of itself is a good indication that its not supposed to be done. Again - what are you teaching your kids? That they can break a rule if they don't consider it to be major?

If you really need to bring in these things, show the manager and tell him you keep kosher and can you please bring it in. But I'm sorry, not liking the kosher offerings they have is not a reason to bring something in.

I keep CY and I go to a few movies a year for various reasons. One being - I enjoy it!

I guess I’m not the right crowd but I didn’t know you couldn’t bring your own food.
For the once in a blue moon I have gone I kept a granola bar in my coat pocket like I always do in case I’m hungry. If I get hungry I eat it. If not I don’t.

The OU app says junior mints are dairy, OU-D. Maybe call them before you go to a movie theater to double check.

Don't. Don't make a chillel Hashem.

Take along some candy or nuts in your purse for an emergency.

You should be able to survive without eating for a couple of hours

Agree.
Maybe go out to eat and then go see a movie.

Doesn't have any? Are they selling weird off brand snacks? Many of the candies sold in movie theaters are kosher even if you don't hold by them.

you shouldve known coming onto imamother that theres gonna be a very wide range of types of people.
if you dont think going to a theater is ok thats fine, no ones forcing you to go and you can easily avoid clicking on the thread. we all have different opinions and hashkafos, and I dont know why youre shocked that people dont appreciate being rebbetzin'd.

Most places I've been to couldn't care less.
I've walked in holding a shopping bag with food inside and had no comment whatsoever.
Other times I've put it under my coat, you can fit a whole lot of things under the coat. They won't pat you down, it ain't the TSA.

They know everyone does it. They mostly just want u to make an effort to hide it.

Idk if ure lkwd, but marquis theater in TR literally doesn't care less, they barely even check tickets.

Yes, some hold that it is chukas hagoyim and won't go to stadiums or theaters. But there's not necessarily a correlation between keeping cy and not going to theaters. I think people just felt like there was some judgement in your post towards people who don't hold by it.

A theater & stadium is the same non jewish as an amusement park, zoo, mall......
So if you go to any of those places, you are being a hypocrite.

And the app says they aren’t DE but in fact dairy.
And the first ingredient in them is milk chocolate.
And the ingredients say contain milk.

Edited to add they have whole milk in the ingredients, it could be that water girl holds dry milk is ok not CY but I don’t know about the milk chocolate.

I wouldn’t categorically lump all those places together.
It also depends on what movie you’re watching. G (if any movies are rated that anymore) are very different from R which are very different from XX.
