$5. A month for the extra line

This is helpful to know -
Can you use any flip? What about a flip that was koshered?
Would any T Mobile store be able to assist me with this? Or is there a better way to go about this?

You're not using your iPhone for any communication, right?
So just use it like a tablet without a SIM card and move your SIM card to your new dumb phone and receive calls and texts on that...

I would still need the internet to work on my phone for google maps, Spotify, etc… WhatsApp can be checked when I’m in a wifi enabled area. I want a really simple dumb phone with no internet… I don’t believe I can get a hotspot with that?

But you can get a sim card for data and not really need to have it be the same phone number...

Tmobile does it. Texts go to both too. I have it

Just spoke to T Mobile. The only way to do this is to have data always on 2 devices- (in this case flip and smart) in order to run the Digits App. Which means paying for 2 phone lines even if im only using my 1 phone line. Which doubles my monthly fees. Very disappointing.

Oh well.

And to the poster who mentioned she only pays 10 a month for the digits app, there's some misunderstanding there.

Again, disappointing.

This is my understanding, you purchase a sim or e-sim meant for an apple watch. Instead of it ringing on the watch it rings on the 2nd phone.

I believe the flip phone gets the main sim and phone number and the iphone uses the e-sim.

So T Mobile just explained to me that for starters e sim is a new thing that can only work on newer model devices (not on my galaxy s10) and also it's for more secure service, not necessarily for data

From speaking to them there's no such option for $5 a month (we wish! Lol)

Yes if you have the main account on your iPhone. You can either use WiFi or any SIM with internet and get your messages

But not so simple bec needs to be constant connection in order for phone to work. If u step out of wifi area you'll loose connection. That's why they said 2 phone lines (for data) are needed.

I'm pretty sure yes, it's an app that doesn't need an active phone line on the device to keep the messages working.

It does- need constant data in order to work
(As per T Mobile)

Right, some connection to the Internet, either through data or WiFi, but without that specific number attached to the device.

I wonder if you can do this through something like Google voice? Port your number to the Google voice Internet line, have the Voice app set to your smartphone, so it will ring to the app when using the smartphone (and can make outgoing calls using that number too), and also have it forwarded to your dumphone phone number. Only issue is you can't make outgoing calls from that number with your dumphone without the app
