I was terrified of flying for years, but really wanted to travel. I would focus on breathing and would sip water. I would also make lists of things that needed doing when I returned home, which was a distraction. If you’re traveling with a baby or young kids this may not work, but earbuds and music were also calming to me as well as taking care of my kids. In more recent years, I started taking a tiny dose of Ativan, which has helped tremendously and allowed me to sleep. I’m even flying by myself to go on an all Womens trip soon. Good luck.

Prescription stuff? I'm surprised. Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

A train!!! From Miami to DC with a few friends and was sooo much fun. It does take time ( more than 24 hours) but after talking to people about why they take the train. most said fear of flying.
They have rooms with proper beds, and ones with a bunk bed. Showers/bathrooms in the train car, a dining car... bought games. If you reserve enough In advance you can get kosher airline food.
* **it's not cheaper, and can even be more expensive than flying***
But it's alot of fun.

I’m also fearful but percentage wise you are statistically more likely to die crossing the street then in a plane crash.

Either a lawsuit waiting to happen or a sugar pill. The placebo effect is a powerful thing.

Here are some tips to help with fear of flying:

1. Notice and label the feeling - when you name a feeling it tames the feeling a bit. Let the feeling know that you appreciate when it’s there to help you, but right now it’s not needed. (For ex, fear can be helpful when it comes to safety, but not when it causes unnecessary anxiety.) Think of it as a false alarm.
2. Try to think logically - statistically most planes do not crash and you likely don’t even know anyone who ever died in a crash.
3. Ground yourself using your five senses - 5 things you see, 4 you can touch, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, 1 taste
4. Imagine watching your thoughts like a tv show and change the channel to a happy memory. Use your five senses to really feel like you’re experiencing the memory.
5. Distract by reading, watching something etc
6. If none of this helps - notice the feeling and remind yourself that a feeling can’t kill you as bad as it feels.

Many reasons.

I saw TheFlightChannel videos on YouTube.

But if you’re afraid I don’t recommend watching them.

Some have happy endings.
