I have probably around 15 but I find that after all these years I end up coming back to the same ones again and again. I had a few more and threw out 2 or 3 by pesach cleaning. I haven't used them in like 5 years. It was time to make use out of that space for something else.

I have way over 30! I come from a small family and am the one who cooks the most so when then last person who loved to cook passed away, I inherited her massive collection. I love flipping through and finding fun new recipes when I can and really look forward to being asked to send dishes for Sheva brachos/siyums so I can get creative

Thanks everyone for the confirmation.

Truth be told, were both ridiculous sometimes. Bh for that or we'd be embarrassed of each other. Lol.

The book I ordered is texture over taste by Joshua weissman.
One of my kids is a very picky/sensory eater whos challange is textures rather than taste. Somehow junkfood is always the right texture.... LOL

She'll hype herself up to eat a yellow pepper or Kirby. And she'll tolerate it now.... The other 4 bh INHALE them and she feels left out...

In general she will gag from some textures and it can be the same food one day it came out the right texture the other not.
I'm hoping it'll give me some insight. I'll keep you posted if you can remind me to....
Ooh, lmk how it is! I saw it and sounds interesting, but I don’t want to spend on a cookbook that’s not kosher

Just tell him that you are getting new cookbooks instead of eating out.
Therfore he should let you get a new one instead of anniversaries &birthdays.
Just my opinion. Very Happy

Probably 15 or so. Too lazy to get out of bed and check.
But they’re my comics books lol!
Love looking through them, even if I don’t end up using many of the recipes.
And yes, pupa and nitra still get the most used with the Balebusta choice green and white most often!

Sounds like you are using it for research and education. I hereby declare it a different category than a cookbook Wink

I got rid of almost all my cookbooks before I made aliyah. I realized I barely used most of them. I copied in the few recipes from each of them I actually used into my favorite and gave the rest away. I use recipes online when I'm looking for something new instead. Best decision ever!

I love cookbooks, we read them all the time. I have one shelf for them and I use the container concept. When it completely full and I get another cookbook, an old one has to go. Ive gotten rid of a few over the years.

Haha! From what o read online, I ended up buying both his at the same time. Was $27 for both.
Worst case I flopped. Not such an expensive mistake. I really dislike returning something like this unless I right away see it's not for me.

Synthy, It arrived today. I'll probably not get a chance to go thru it till after yom tov.

I have a small collection of cookbooks
I like to read through them as if they are novels
I don’t let anyone take them into the kitchen
If they want a recipe they take a picture of the page
This way they stay nice and clean

How long have you been cooking? Do you always like to improvise?

So I also like when they are clean. It repulses me when I open it and its dirty. (Well, repulse is maybe too strong a word.) I have these large challah bags that are big enough to fit any cook book opened up. I open it to the page and stick it into one. Fold over the flap. Stays nicely clean.
They all look brand new. Except the one my kid also uses. That one.... oh well it was nice until she was old enough to use it... I guess I can always buy a new one. But I'd rather buy one I haven't read yet.
Silly thing is I got her her own cookbook for her age but no. It was to simple she had to take mine. Hers is bran new looking. I guess her sister can enjoy it at some point.

Also my index card recipe book is almost completely full. Good thing I got 2 when I did so I can use the plastic sleeves of the second one. That ones also a mess cuz ya know... Kids! Annoying. But bh for kids.

I am actually kind of charmed when I see a cookbook with obvious signs of use. You get an idea of which recipes were most beloved. It's like seeing a teddy bear with worn-out fur, missing an eye and half an ear, that you can tell has been much loved.

7 years and I guess so!
I don't bake a lot, and if I do then I need to get a recipe.
