Before doing this, check if these women actually want to be on your wall.

If you have read available excerpts from her journal, she didn't like photos being taken of her bec she felt she wasn't attractive. Not for tznius reasons. But I saw a photo of her and her sister on their travels, and she actually looked quite chic and polished. I don't remember the title of the book, though.

Another suggestion for op would be Recha Sternbuch or Gisi Fleischmann. I am sure there are photos on line.

These special women stand behind these Tzadikim. No need to put them up on your wall. There's a reason why we , as frum yidden don't hang pictures of women up besides for us, or family members.

Yes. That's one reason I'm skipping Sara Schenirer even in low quality. But I think
1. Most people didn't get around to specifying one way or another and
2. Once they've been deceased for a while I think there's room to say times have changed and maybe they'd be ok if this is what it takes to inspire us. Though I'm still inclined to respect the wish when it's known.

I highly doubt Rav Chaim and Rebetzen Batsheva Kanievsky would appreciate you putting her up on your wall.
Do you have a Rav you can ask first?

Not sure who "we" are. You do you. As long as the woman in the picture is tzenua and hasn't requested privacy, I have no issue. In fact I find it if anything more tasteful than hanging myself or family members, since they're already public figures and I sometimes feel a little gauche putting myself on display (though family pictures are also on the agenda anyway. Because they're kinda fun even if I find it personally awkward.)

The Chofetz Chaim, according to legend, didnt want pictures taken of him.
I think artwork portraying the mitzvot and middos they worked so hard for, may be considered.

So why the need to put the men on the wall? And why do they stand behind the tzadikim and not next to them?

You don't need to. It's not a must. But IMHO people do hang pics of gdolei hador because they value them.
"*behind* a successful man stands a treat woman" and that's a secular and probably non-jewish saying.
Do you have an issue with that?

So your saying there were no great women, only wives behind their men?
And no, its only certain communities that dont show women in pictures (or magazines) not all frum women.

Some of believe a woman can be great in her own right. Do you have an issue with that?

OP I really commend you. What a wonderful idea.

Do you have a source for this? This is the opposite of how it is generally portrayed.

Absolutely YES! A woman absolutely can be a treat person in the right of her own.
Her value greatness doesn't depend on a man.
In fact the saying shows it clearly. Without her the man probably wouldn't be what he is. SHE is the power behind it Smile

Yep.

Sara Schenirer did not have a husband for most of her life, she made history herself.

Rebbetzin Jungreis was married to a Rabbi who from what I hear was a great man but not a public figure, whereas she spearheaded major kiruv action.

Similarly afaik Dr. Grunfeld - pretty sure married to a Rabbi but a good portion of her lifesaving and soul-saving achievements were before her marriage and more in partnership with other rescue workers than with her husband.

Just to name a few. Yes, I believe supporting a husband's endeavors is one way for a woman to achieve greatness, and you won't hear me putting that down as some other feminists might. It is true that most great men have/had a great woman behind them and that's a huge achievement for those women. But it's not the only way and I think today's youth need inspiration from both sides.
