I think what the poster means is, be true to the timeline of the characters. Names go in and out of fashion and yes you'll always have ppl who don't care and name their kids whatever they feel like, but most ppl don't want their child to have an unusual name.
So unless that's part of the character/story, it might help to think about what names are trending/in.
You won't exactly have a ton of Menachem Mendel's or Chaya Mushkas outside of chabad right? I mean... It is possible... Just not that common.
