am I the only one that heard that there is a minhag or something that we do not wear used shoes?
my dh had so many old pairs in the closet I went through them with him deciding which ones he should get rid of.
then I called the woman in my community who is in charge of handing out clothing and she said that no frum person would take them.

If a child wears a used pair of shoes, won't that child's footprint also mold into the shoe?

I guess the leather has been stretched already and won't stretch now in another direction. I don't take this issue too seriously, though, and do pass down shoes in good condition.

I just buy cheap shoes (less than $5) and I don't pass them down - unless I am desperate. Like this past summer my younger son wore my older sons old sandels becuase I was so busy with the newborn I never got a chance to go to the store.

Yep then it applys but otherwise shoes halachically atleast can be passed down.
I know a grandmother who passed these adorable shoes quite fashionable now that she bought for her daugher, down to her granddaughter
