I hate body hair and have been shaving everything down there since my teens. In the past year I did laser for my under arms ($350) and full brazillian ($975) it is HEAVEN!!! I love it and I will start dropping hints to get my lower legs done next

It may be a smidge higher then some places but it's for 6 sessions and it's in a plastic surgens office and one of the strongest lasers out there. A lot of the spas who do this use weaker lasers and you end up paying for follow ups anyway so it works out about the same. I did a lot of research before hand and would suggest you do the same if interested.

same opinion here |
But then the hair growns back quicker and thicker than ever!
I gave up and started using a bikini trimmer. I shave the sides (although I want to start doing electrolosis on the sides.)

Is the place you got it done in Brooklyn? I am looking in to it now but can't decide if I wouldn't be bright red in the face the whole time the person was doing the laser.

I agree! If you shave there regularly it will eventually stop itching.

Definitely go for the brazilian! I go about ever 4-5 weeks or so, and it's only $20. The results are fantastic, and it feels great! It's scary and painful in the beginning, but as you go more often you get used to it. The hair starts growing slower, thinner, and stops growing altogether on some areas.
At least give it a try Once, you will be amazed at how good it feels and looks.
(you can take an advil or something before you go to prevent some of the pain)

Do you know of anybody who does electrolysis in the Flatbush, Boro Park area?

never experienced such. hair grows the same. if not less. I think it itched the first time I did it when I grew hair there a hundred years ago. I have never had a problem of ingrown hairs or itchiness since.

Molly Gelbart on 51st Street bet 19 & 20. 718-338-9448.
Get a prescription of Emla numbing cream from your doctor and apply before you go. It won't hurt. (I always went to her without the Emla cream and I managed fine though. But that was on my lip area. For my bikini area, I will try to get the Emla cream.)

I am the above amother. No, I am not located in NY
I see some people are mentioning electrolysis as well as laser. You should note that electrolosis and laser are not the same thing. Elect. is a much much longer process and in the end can be even more expensive then laser due to the amount of sessions needed. The sessions for laser are about 5 minutes x 6 sessions spaced ~5 weeks apart. The elect. sessions last for about 30 min x anywhere from 15 - 30 session for full results.

I have two questions.
Does the laser treatment hurt at all?
Also, why get rid of all the hair there? What is the benefit?

For those who shave, how do you get the lip area clean? Isn't it dangerous to shave around there?

I think you're all making such a big deal over waxing for no reason...
1. it is a once a month thirty dollar expense typically which the majority can afford
2. it's really only painful the first time and afterwards it stings just a bit as long as you do it every month
3. the hair does grow back thinner every time and shaving 100% makes it thicker
4. the people who do it are so professional- you think they're going to sit and stare at you come on they do a hundred of these a week- they don't give a heck what it looks like...
I mean seriously, as women we go through a lot more painful, uncomfortable situations- this is the last one you should be worrying about

| That's a very naive assumption. Very.

OP here.
I dont live in NY but thanks.
but im wondering, how is waxing only 20 dollars if lower legs are thirty+? if its really only 20 then I may be able to pull it off for now...
also how do you know that the person is good. or does it not make as big a difference as with eyebrows etc since they are just getting everything off and not making a shape.
also what sort of wax do they use. I have had my eyebrows waxed before and I broke out from it so since then I stick with threading (brows and lips for $10 once a month and clean up with tweezer in middle). but when my legs were waxed they used a diff type and I was fine with that. does brazillian use the same wax as legs or would it use the wax used on brows?

OP I thought this was you asking.
Anyway, if you you live 2 states south of NY I can give you the place where I go for laser.
As far as the pain associated with laser it's no more then a rubberband snap and it goes away instantly. She also does a row of 4 zaps then follows that row with a mini ice pack. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it a 3 for pain.
