General fish recipe ideas thread

can we share general fish recipes, recipes that would be good for most types of fish, as I noticed that fish dont have SUCH different tastes that you cant easily interchange one type of fish for another.

\like for example I have in my freezer salmon, tilapia, and sole. Can we post recipes that in general are good for fish.

Dill and lemon on fish is always good.
So is soy sauce and honey/brown sugar.
poaching in mock chicken stock.

dip in egg

dip in spiced flour

fry, make sure oil is hot enough so it gets crispy and don't cook for too long

I made this last night. It was good!



mixture of ketchup, mayo, and garlic powder, bake


duck sauce is great on salmon


spread oil on fish sprinkle on spices (pepper salt dill parsely, chives, whatever you like) broil


I think the key w/ fish is not to cook it too long. I think they say 10 minutes per inch of thickness. (of course this is an estimate- there are variables)In other words the fish should be just cooked.

An easy and really good salmon recipe is the following:
Place fillets on baking pan. Smear with mayo on top. Sprinkle with spices to your taste or bread crumbs.
Bake at 350 for 30 min, until fish is cooked. This taste better chilled.

For talapia, I place it on a baking sheet, sprinkle it with teriyaki sauce and then diced tomatoes on top of that and bake at 350 for about 25 min. This is great, its not very fish tasting so many ppl like it.

I use a little lemon juice mix mayo and mustard spread over fish then sprinkle with dill. Tastes great.

It really doesn't have the fishy taste, to the point that my DS ( age 2) asked for more chicken!

I love the Asian Barbeque Salmon Salad from KDB. It's a great Shabbos meal appetizer.
1-1/4 lbs. fresh salmon fillet, skin and bones removed
1/2 c. favorite barbecue sauce
2 tsp. teriyaki sauce
3 tsp. toasted sesame oil, divided
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. wasabi powder
1 large head romaine lettuce, coarsely chopped
1/2 English cucumber, sliced into 1/4" half-moons
fine sea salt
freshly ground black pepper
2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
black and white sesame seeds, for garnish

Preheat oven to 180 C. Spray a pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Cut salmon into 2" cubes. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk the barbecue sauce, teriyaki sauce, 2 tsp. of the sesame oil, garlic powder, and wasabi powder.
Add the salmon cubes to the bowl and toss to coat.
Place the salmon in a single layer into the prepared pan and bake for 10-12 minutes or until cooked through.
In a bowl, combine the lettuce and sliced cucumbers. Season with salt and pepper. Toss with lemon juice and 1 tsp. sesame oil. Place the salmon cubes on top of the salad. Garnish with black and white sesame seeds.

This sounds DEEEELISH! I have never made pan seared fish before. How high should the heat be? Medium?

I have done this and also breaded the fish after spreading the above mix on it. It's sooo yummy!
